Morgan is twenty years old and has grown up all over the East Coast, from farms in Virginia and Maine to a cabin in Connecticut, (sometimes in circus tents).
Morgan Smith is a writer, model, and activist, and social media influencer whose writings on have been published in the US and internationally, winning over 20 national awards. Writer of Oceanborn, an internet-famous musical called "sweeping and confident" by the New York Times, and Averno, Averno, a multimedia franchise including 6 plays and musicals, virtual reality, epic poetry, comic books, radio theatre, and a concept album, all in a massive interlocking storyline that explores the politicization of women’s bodies, Morgan's writing is thoroughly entrenched in the mythic women of past and present. She is an experiential storytelling designer, a fandom creator, a legislative advocate, a medieval history literature specialist, and an avid proponent of fairy-tale revolution. She is the youngest playwright to have 2 off-broadway pieces running in one season. Recently, she won the best storyteller award at MIT’s Reality Hack, and she will be presenting VR experiences from the Averno franchise at SXSW. She has studied at Juilliard, Yale, MIT, and NYU.
They are an active member of the body positivity community, traveling the country to speak at conferences on eating disorder recovery, surviving sexual assault, and escaping abusive relationships. They are studying to become a human rights lawyer, doing pro-bono work for the queer community. They have studied at Bryn Mawr, Juilliard, Yale, and NYU.
Morgan also writes fiction (a few books and more than a few short stories) while studying English at New York University. They began their writing career by writing 20 pages of a story in ninth grade, quitting in favor of a competitive gymnastics career, retiring from gymnastics at the ripe old age of seventeen and finishing their first novel. Since then they have written seven more novels, all of them about badass women.
